About two weekends ago, we had some beautiful days here. When we sent the kids out this day, the only snow clothing requirement was snow pants so they wouldn't get sopping wet! It was beautiful and warm out and so I put the zoom lense on the camera and took some pictures.
Not sure what Kyla is doing above because there wasn't even a hint of snow or even a cloud in the sky but I thought it was a fun capture when she didn't know I was taking a picture.
The girls wanted to ice skate. They would skate about half the length of the rink and then drop down and slide the rest of the way...
Colter just wanted to dig snow with his excavator for a while...
I like how the camera captured the snow flying around the bucket in this picture and the expression on his face...
A happy boy!
Uh, oh! A not so happy girl. I think it must have hurt this time when she hit the ice...
Now it's colder again and the ice needs shoveled off again after a blanket of snow fell yesterday. I think I'll head out there now for some fresh air...
All for now,

What kind of camera do you have...or advise one to get if they are getting started for the first time? zoom?? You have beautiful pictures!
You lucky ducks with snow still!!! All ours is basically gone and waaaayyy to much rain!
The zoom is very cool - the pictures of the kids completely unaware of the camera are very fun.
Such wonderful pictures. Shows the "ouchie" really well too....poor lil' girl!
ohhh...I just love this post! The pics of your beautiful children are awesome! The carefree days of childhood!
I ♥ this post, and your ZOOM! Makes me hungry for "normal"
grmasusie,
We just bought a Canon Rebel T1i. It has a zoom lens with an Image Stabilizer which makes zooming in on moving subject really nice!
I am not the person to ask about the right camera to get. This is a good camera that we have but there is SO much to learn and know about it. Good Luck in your camera search!
And thanks for the comment! Grandma's are the BEST!
Alison
These are fantastic pictures Alison! You've captured so much in them. The girls look like they had fun (to a certain point) and Colter looks as happy as can be. Great pics!
Ahhh, what a wonderful day (except for Maya's ouchie) you all had. It really is beautiful when the sun comes out and warms us up some, and sparkles the snow. I have such great memories of ice skating by the hours on the little ponds out in the pasture every winter :-) They'll never forget these special times.
Photos are awesome too :-)
You must be finding lots of time to get acquainted with your new camera. Zooming in on these special moments... how fun. Just like animals and birds, kids are much more relaxed when you're not in their face with the camera.
Sorry for the tears. I mean, MOM! Why are you still taking pictures instead of running down there with kisses?? :)
