Mod Podge Coasters and Pinterest

I had seen this idea one time on a blog somewhere and filed it mentally in my brain so someday I could make them. But my brain doesn't always remember things very well, so in December, I was ready to make some of these for gifts, and I began my search for them and couldn't find the post or the blog anywhere! I did a quick google search and luckily there were many places that had tutorials on how to do these. Now I want to share them with you...

These would be great gifts for anytime. Here is what you will need...

tiles(Lowes for around .17), felt, foam brush, mod podge, tacky glue, gloss sealer(optional) and pretty cardstock

Begin by cutting cardstock squares that fit the top of the tiles, leaving a small edge around the perimeter...

With the mod podge and your foam brush, glue each piece of cardstock to the top of each tile...

Glue down(with the mod podge) any edges and corners and then let dry...

With the foam brush, apply mod podge to the surface of the tile and around edges. Smooth and let dry. After each layer is dry, apply another layer until you have six layers...

Now, cut the felt into square pieces to glue to the bottom of each tile coaster. Glue down with tacky glue and let dry. Make sure to glue down any loose edges and corners...

This makes a nice finished, no scratch back to your coaster...

In the end I decided not to use the glossy sealer on these. I tried it on one of the coasters and I just didn't like how it turned out. But FYI... If you don't use the sealer, it's important to let the mod podge cure for 17 days before using it for hot stuff.

These turned out to be great teachers gifts too. I really liked using mod podge. Hmmm, what can I do next?

So I was invited to join Pinterest a long time ago and really wanted to use it. I knew it would help me keep and organize all these fun ideas and yummy looking recipes that I see and want to try. My brain isn't very dependable at times. Anyway, I finally figured out how to get signed up without having a facebook account. So, I'm "pinning away"! So many fun ideas, so little time, eh?

This 12 x 12 page took me about a half an hour to do. Everything is contained on my computer... no mess, no cleanup... What's not to love?! Oh, and Costco prints 12 X 12 scrap book pages! Can't wait to try it!

In Print

Remember the card above that I made with my new Stampin' Up software, My Digital Studio? My next step was to print out the cards with my printer. I wasn't happy with the card that I printed out so I looked at ordering cards from the Stampin' Up website. It turned out that they were going to cost me almost $2 a card. Yikes! So my next option was to order cards from Costco. I wasn't sure at all what they would turn out like but when I got them I was very happy with them!

Below is more fun with MDS. I had these printed at the Costco Photo Center in our local Costco and they turned out great!

Yay for COSTCO PHOTO! It's not quite as convenient as printing right on my own printer but it is the closest store to my house and the price is right. I just can argue with that...

My New ♥♥♥♥♥

So here is my first My Digital Studio creation. So far I ♥♥♥♥♥ the software! I am getting better all the time at editing/creating while nursing. ;)

Our internet has been down most of the last 3 weeks. It hasn't been such a bad thing... So, I've been spending some time with My Digital Studio and I think I found a new ♥♥♥♥♥, did I mention that already?

Now, I just need to figure out how to print my cards on my printer. But for now I better head to bed before my little one wakes up for her nightly nursing.

On The Wings of Love

Last Saturday we worked on making Valentines but they turned out to be kinda "girly" and Colter wasn't to interested in them. Finally he got bored with them and ended up not finishing his. Instead he went to his room and finished cutting out his airplane (above) with his jigsaw. Later he and Randy glued it all together and then painted it.

All week I have been trying to come up with an idea for Valentine Cards for him. Finally I came up with this...


I think he'll be happy with them when he gets back from ice fishing with Daddy, Grandpa, Loren and Justin. He'll just have to put in his classmates names and stuff in the suckers.

Then we'll enjoy some salmon for supper (hopefully ;)...

Anticipation!

The kids have started counting down the days until March 5th. Randy had the idea to make a baby chain so they could tear off a link each day until the due date. So here is the chain Kyla and I made. Do you think we'll make it through all those links? It's down to 28 today! Maybe that's not enough!? We shall see...

Today, the kids and I had fun making Valentines for their classmates and teachers. We've been working on some other fun stuff around here too. Randy's been trimming the windows. Kyla's been working on a flannel rag quilt and doing her first Science Fair Project. Colter's been doing some woodworking. Maya and I have been busy nesting. I have a list called "TO DO BEFORE BABY"... wash baby clothes, reorganize kids closets, clean out fridge, wash inside windows, wash baby bedding and blankets, freeze meals, load up freezer with bread... We are slowly checking off our list!

And since today is 36 weeks here is a picture for the curious...
