Memory Lane Monday: Senior Pictures

It's graduation time of year again. I thought I would go back 15 and 20 years and post our high school senior pictures for this weeks Memory Lane Monday post.

First, here is Randy. He graduated from high school in 1990...
And I graduated from high school in 1995...
Here is another of my Senior Pictures taken 15 years ago.

Wait a minute! This looks more like 150 years ago! What is going on here?!
Yes, this is me in a gown that dates back to the mid to late 1800's. My sister and I were working at a historic mansion as tour guides at the time. My boss gave me permission to wear this gown for some of my Senior Pictures. These pictures were also taken on the grounds of the century old mansion where we worked.
This rich, gleaming, slightly stiff material, consisted of satin-like fabric with a thin genuine gold thread woven throughout. The gold thread gave the material added weight, increased value, and a shimmering appearance in the light. It also gave it the durability to withstand the next 150 years.
This beautiful gown was donated to the mansion where I worked in hopes that it would be preserved and treasured for years to come. To this day, it is displayed as a reminder of the days when ladies wore corsets and rode in horse-drawn buggies.

And now, moving forward,

or backward,

Another senior picture of Randy from 1990...

He was quite a handsome Senior I am thinking! I really wish I would have known him back then.

Or not.

Considering that I was only finishing 7th grade at the time, he probably would have been slightly unimpressed with my giggly, immature, knock-kneed, clumsy, thirteen-year-old self.

No, it was better that we met 6 years later. Much better.

And, it's much better that I wasn't living 150 years ago when I would have had to wear a corset every day. Much much MUCH better. Although I wouldn't have minded the horse and buggy entirely...

This is great! Kylie and I would have LOVED to try on a dress like that. We often talk about that era and it truly intrigues both of us.

You looked so beautiful...still do!

Tyler says, "Wow, those are cool pictures. I hope I graduate some day."

I say, "I can't believe it's been 15 and 20 years. You both still seem so youthful to me."

Dear Looking Good,
Wow! I've often thought I was born in the wrong era... I love the clothes, hats, manners and so forth of the times gone by... But then again, I'm pretty attached to my Blackberry, my "free-to-move" clothes and an occasional iced frappe from Mcdonalds... Ha! the grass really is greener on the other side.

I just realized next year it will be 10 years since I graduated!!! Weird! I love that you can see the nineties written all over your hubby's pics... Makes me want to start sprouting lyrics from Ice, ice, baby!

Love,
6 and Up In The Nineties

You and I are only a few months apart in age. I graduated in 1995 also, although your senior pictures are much better than mine. Just imagine huge glasses, hair pulled back in a tight french braid, and braces.
P.S. My husband is 9 1/2 years older than I am. So when he graduated, I was in second grade. Good thing we didn't start dating until I was 20!!

dear GraduatedGirl,

The photos are so fun to see how you looked as a graduate. Both or you are very nice looking then and now! It gets even more fun as time moves on doesn't it? Hey, love the vintage gown too, and what an interesting job you and your sis had!

love,
Down the road a few years ahead of you...like my hubby in 1975 and me in 1979...(You can only imagine)
