October Birthdays!

I completely skipped over September so I could post these October Birthday pages tonight. Just skipping around a little from here to there... I guess that fits my personality pretty well. :)

On the Saturday before Maya's birthday, all of us girls plus her friend, Sabrina, went to the Pumpkin Patch to celebrate her birthday. Then we did a banner craft after that at home and played some more.

Then on Randy's real birthday, the day before Maya's birthday, we all celebrated with cake and company! Alice and Carolyn were here to join us. Then on the next day, Maya's real birthday, she brought cupcakes to school and spent some time with Grandpa and Grandma to celebrate with them.

Maya has been dreaming and wishing for a lap harp from Hearthsongs for a very long time. Last year after her birthday, she saved enough money to buy it and I tried twice to order it but it was never available. She finally got it for her birthday this year and she was one happy girl! The sound is beautiful and it came with tuning instructions and song cards too!

Maya thought it was the funnest birthday celebration ever... something that she says every year. :)

Now, back to September...

June is a song...

...and I love the tune.

Did we really go straight from June to October? That's kinda what if feels like... the summers always fly by!

So many people have said that Lita takes after her Daddy in looks-especially when he was a baby. Now I see it... high hair line, round full face, prominent forehead and serious expression. I was excited to find the top pictures recently in my photo archives. How fun to compare the two baby faces! I think Lita might be a little older in her picture but I definitely see a family resemblance. Do you too?

Seven Days of Thankfulness: Day Two

I'm thankful for a husband who takes time to play the harmonica. Sometimes on Sunday mornings he plays the hymns and sometimes in the evenings he plays to calm our fussy baby. Works every time!

40 & 7

Yes, the kids made sure we had 40 candles on that cake! And seven candles on a cupcake is quite a lot too!
Happy Birthday Randy and Maya!

Randy's 40th Birthday was last Friday and Maya's 7th Birthday was last Saturday. Of course, Randy already got his birthday present a few weeks ago. You can read about it here. Maya got her birthday present on Saturday (new bike) but we waited until Sunday to have the party for both of them because of a packed-full weekend. Thanks Grandpa and Grandma for the party at your house. It made it extra special!

So our families cycle of birthday's is done for the year now. This next year will be different for us. Instead of Colter starting out the birthday cycle in July, it will be Lita's birthday that gets us rolling in February. Can you believe my kids are already looking forward to Valentine's Day 2012? Me?...not so much... (sniff, sniff)

Father's Day 2011

Memory Lane Monday: Do You Know Your Babies?

Thanks everyone for participating! This was fun to see your answers. :) I guess Kyla was the real winner since Daddy admitted he probably wouldn't have gotten it without her help. *smile*

It's amazing to us how they can all have their own look but yet they all look so much alike. Melita has darker hair, complextion and eyes like her brother Colter. We'll see if she remains that way. Colter is pretty pleased about that! :)

Breaking Away!

Day Break in the Fort Peck Breaks (above)

Work has been crazy for Randy lately. You know... there is no complaining in that statement because we are so thankful to have a job! But the reality is, work is crazy and he doubted he would get away this year to go elk hunting. It was a big uncertainty right up to the day before he left but he was able to go! For someone who has been working SO hard for the last year, this was a wonderful pick-me-up. Just what he needed.

Everyone needs a change of perspective once and a while...

He met his Dad in the badlands in the Fort Peck Breaks again this year where they had both drawn cow tags. The hunt wasn't a "success" for either of them in terms of shooting an elk. But they did get off a lot of good shots on the Canon...

It sounds like a lot of their time was spent hiking up to the high ground and then just looking around with their binoculars and waiting to see something. Then off again...

Lunch out...

A beautiful desolate land. Would you believe me if I told you they saw seashells on top of some of these baron hills?

Getting up higher. They didn't see many elk and couldn't get close enough to the ones that they did see. But apparently it was a good time had but both father and son...

Surviving and thriving...

And while he was gone, I slaved away at home doing all the chores above all my daily bread baking, cooking meals, laundry, running back and forth to school 3 to 5 times a day, etc.... And on top of it all, I even made and smoked 30 pounds of summer sausage. At least that's what I told him anyway...

In reality, I also fit in a massage at the spa, my water aerobics, a little shopping for new boots, an evening with some friends, and we ate out a couple times too! I think we all survived just fine!

So glad you got to go Dear Husband. Thanks for all your hard work!

Memory Lane Monday: Dresden, Germany-Oct. 1999

Back in April, I started out these Memory Lane Monday posts with a post about the streets of Dresden. These pictures were all taken by Randy when he was on a trip to Dresden in October of 1999 for work. I really enjoyed seeing all the sights that he saw through his pictures and now it's fun to go back and look at them again...

The following three pictures are taken of the Köenigstein – Saxony's Impenetrable Fortress overlooking the Elbe River below.

The Schloss Moritzburg Castle (below) was built from 1542–1546 as a hunting lodge.

The Semperoper Opera House was first built in 1841.

Beautiful architecture inside and old church.

The Zwinger Palace was constructed in stages from 1710 to 1728.

Many of the buildings above were damaged during the bombing of World War II and had to be restored over the following years.

Below is a newer building. If you watched the video in the last post (From Sand to Chip) you may recognize it. It is the AMD Fab in Dresden. Randy took this picture as he was flying out.

So, currently Randy is on another business trip. He is in the 45 largest state. 159 miles from N. to S. and 89 miles at it's greatest width. Population is over 621,760. He had a maple turkey sandwich for lunch and he went to bed about 2 hours ago. Any guesses where he is? (sorry, no prizes this time ;)

From Sand To Chip

Sometimes I ask my husband "what in the world do you do all day?" Mostly he ignores me but once and a while he tries to explain it to me. At some point I usually get that lost look in my eyes and say "whatever you say..."

A couple weeks ago, he showed me this fascinating video and I finally said "OH, now I get it...... kinda..." Some of you may find this video interesting too. So this is how computer chips are made...

He has been to this AMD Fab in Dresden, Germany. The copper technology in this video is the technology of his company and he helped design the tools that do the copper process along with many of the other tools that do processes on these silicon wafers that eventually become computer chips. Those computer chips go into your computer and make it do the things it does.

Memory Lane Monday: Father's Day

How quickly the years go by and the kids change when you look at year to year pictures. Back in May of 2009 I did a post of all my Mother's Day pictures since I first became a mother. Yesterday, after we took our annual Father's Day Pictures, I thought it was time for a father's Day post through the years...

First Fathers Day with Kyla in 2001 (not really a posed picture but good enough ;)

For Father's Day 2002 we bought Daddy this tree...

In front of the Father's Day tree in 2003...

And again in 2004...

Complete with 3 in 2005...

In 2006 we were in our new house so no more tree...

And in 2007...

Father's Day in 2008 by the barn...

And in 2009 in Havre overnight (didn't actually get a picture on Father's Day)
