In a world of turmoil, Love made this day a day to remember...

On this day in history, the American navy bombards Iwo Jima in preparation for invasion and the Allies officially win the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. Grandpa John is a pilot in the Army Air Corp and is soon to be sent overseas to fight in the war. Then on September 2, Grandma Alice's 24th Birthday, Japan signs the articles of surrender on the deck of the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay, officially ending the War. I would say that was a pretty nice Birthday present for Grandma...

Something Old, Something New

When we were home for harvest this year, I saw this old door in the old abandoned house at the North farm (Harry's). Dad told me to help myself to it so I brought it home in the back of the pick-up...
I had the idea to make into a headboard for our bed. First I sanded it and primed it. Then I painted it in a dark cocoa. Then I distressed the edged of it...
Randy helped me securely mount it to the wall. I like that it's thin and doesn't take up much room.

I also like that it has sentimental value.

Oh, and the cost? That makes me happy too!

Learning to Ride

Colter convinced Daddy to take his training wheels off so he could learn to ride with out them. And Maya convinced Daddy to put the training wheels on Kyla's old bike so she could try riding!
