A Little Lesson On Life

While we were at Grandpa Larry's last week, Tober found a nest of little bunnies out in the fuel shed. The kids rescued this little bunny before Tober got him. So what do you do with a little cute, helpless, baby bunny?

First you give him a name "Thumper", make him a little box filled with kleenex, and beg your Mom and Dad to let you keep him...
Then your Mom and Dad tell you to put him back with his Mommy,
but you find out his Mommy has abandoned the nest so you bring him back to the house...
So you get out some milk and warm it and feed it to him in a dropper and he drinks some of it.

A few hours later you mix up some baby rice cereal, warm it up and feed it to the bunny.

Then you put a water bottle filled with warm water in his kleenex nest in his box to keep him warm.

Then you keep feeding him and putting new warm water in the bottle through the day...
And you cuddle him and play with him alot too...
That night your Mom gets up to change the water bottle and feed the bunny. But sadly in the morning the little bunny dies...

...and after you wipe the tears from your eyes you put the bunny in a little box and bury it out between 2 little pine trees. You find a pretty sparkly rock out in the badlands and write with black permanent marker "Baby Thumper 2009" and put that with several other sparkly rocks down to mark the grave.

And that was our little lesson on life.
Rest In Peace Little Thumper.

That's too bad about lil' Thumper. It's sometimes harder on us as the mom/dad and see our kids through these life lessons (at least for myself!) Sending hugs and warm thoughts your way.

I had one of those lessons in life, too. My bunny survived quite awhile, but I was pretty distraught after several nights of waking up all night to feed it to find it's cold little stiff body one morning. :( Looks like Little Thumper was well loved anyway. Sweet pictures. Sweet post.
