45 of 52: In My Country Kitchen

Here I am* with Maya in my kitchen this afternoon. We are making Savory Stuffed Chicken Breast with Plum Glaze from allrecipes.com for supper. We are looking forward to company tonight!

There's my cookbook in front of me... do you see it? Yes, my computer!

Oh, and have you gone over to our recipe site yet and checked that out? It's called Country Kitchen Recipes and it has lots of tried, true and delicious recipes on it. Check it out at www.countrykitchenrecipes.blogspot.com.

You know, cooking is not my favorite "chore" in the world. I would much rather iron. But, sometimes blogging about it makes it funner. And, my ironing pile has just reached mountainous proportions! So tomorrow I will attack my ironing pile. Maybe I'll get that in a time delay photo for next week!

Alright, back to the kitchen...

Fun In Motion

I have to admit when we decided to go to the carousel on a recent family trip, my first thought was not "Oh, that will be so fun for the kids!" My first thought was "Oh, what a great opportunity to take some fun pictures!"

My second thought was "Oh, that will be so fun for the kids!"

Yes, it was fun. Riding the carousel and... taking pictures. I think I got a little "carried away" with my rapid fire shooting. Who needs 200 pictures of 45 minutes at the carousel? But it was, well, it was just... fun! Here are my favorites...

This is kind of a funny picture but kinda cool...
And one last fun picture. Carousels are such a great, and fun, place to take pictures!
Here are a few more pictures from our weekend with Ryan, Jeannie, Lane and Morgan...

Hope you have a fun week everyone, whatever your days may bring,

Bitty Mommy

There's more than one way to put tights on a baby...

Being oh so gentle...
This little baby gets lots a good and gentle care. And she does get carried around by her leg once and a while too.

I love watching my 5 year old being a "mommy",

43 of 52: Love is Like a Butterfly

Love is like a butterfly
As soft and gentle as a sigh
The multicolored moods of love are like its satin wings
Love makes your heart feel strange inside
It flutters like soft wings in flight
Love is like a butterfly, a rare and gentle thing

I feel it when you're with me
It happens when you kiss me
That rare and gentle feeling that I feel inside
Your touch is soft and gentle
Your kiss is warm and tender
Whenever I am with you I think of butterflies

Love is like a butterfly
The multicolored moods of love are like its satin wings
Love makes your heart feel strange inside
It flutters like soft wings in flight
Love is like a butterfly, a rare and gentle thing

Your laughter brings me sunshine
Everyday is spring time
And I am only happy when you are by my side
How precious is this love we share
How very precious, sweet and rare
Together we belong like daffodils and butterflies

Love is like a butterfly
As soft and gentle as a sigh
The multicolored moods of love are like its satin wings
Love makes your heart feel strange inside
It flutters like soft wings in flight
Love is like a butterfly, a rare and gentle thing

DIYers

These pictures are from a couple weeks ago when these two replaced a shower door. It's nice this time of year to get some of these little projects done around the house. I recently ordered new light fixtures for our living/dining/office/entry/hall area's so more DIYer time to come. Hope we don't run out of long, dark, winter evenings and cloudy, mucky Saturday's to do it... (did I just say that?!)
Home improvement. It's a never ending job but it makes these "long, dark, winter evenings and cloudy, mucky Saturdays" a little more bearable!

Cheers!

Forcing Spring-Reposted from February 2008

At a baby shower a while back, we were given pink tulip bulbs for party favors. We were instructed on how to force them. I put them in my bag and found them a couple days later so, I decided to give it a try!

Need Spring? Here's how...
Fill a quart glass jar with river rocks to within a couple inches of the top of jar. Nestle the bulbs in the rocks. Fill jar with water up to just beneath the bulbs but not touching them. The roots will begin to grow down into the water. Continue to add water to jar daily to keep the roots in water.

I started my bulbs on January 1st...

on January 7th

on January 14th

on January 21st

on January 26th

on February 2nd

on February 3rd

and on February 4th

Thanks Heather! I just might make it until spring...

Apple and Cinnamon Muffins

Will you like them? We will see. Try them and you may, I say!

They were a hit in the third grade class reading party! And you probably have ALL the ingredients in your kitchen right now! And the recipe is here...

Happy Baking,

42 of 52: Sew Much Love

Recently the kids and I did a little sewing project with felt. Here I am* helping Maya sew together a little pillow for her doll. We picked up this little machine at Joann Fabrics a while back for under 30 dollars and the multi-colored felt for 25 cents a sheet. Fun fun!

I also made these new fleece blankets for the kids recently. I stayed up late a few night to get them made after the kids were in bed and sleeping so they would be a surprise. I think I look a bit tired in this picture that Randy took of me one night (above)...

I made the blankets with anti-pill fleece and double layered for extra warmth and "cozyness". I was worried that it wouldn't be easy to replace their old fleece blanket but I was wrong. They can't wait to go to bed now.... well, maybe that's stretching it a little.... But they do like them and gave up their old ones!
Now Kyla wants to sew Valentines cards with her little machine. We'll have to see what we can come up with.

Have a wonderful Thursday!

She Can See Clearly Now!

This girl is excited to finally get her glasses so she can see the white board at school again. And WOW, look at ALL the other things she can see now too!

Fairmont Hotsprings, Canada-February 2009

Stopping in a little Cafe in Eureka for lunch (above)

Swimming in the nice hot pool on a beautiful snowy evening. This was a fun experience for the kids, one I remember having when I was a kid.

Thanks to Becky and Bruce and kids for the fun time!

Here we walked up the hill to were the some of the hot water seeps out of the ground...

Walking up to the original "bath" house. It contains three separate rooms with shallow little baths in them. The hot water flows into and then out of the baths...

Love those Canadian Rockies!

We enjoyed driving around and seeing the sites...
It was the first time the kids had ever been to Canada. It may not happen again for a while because of needing passports now to get over the border. We had a wonderful time. Click here to see more pictures...
