Christmastime 2009

Here is a slideshow of pictures from our Christmas weekend. Hope you all had a warm and special holiday!

To Many Pixels

Backyard Rink by Randy

Recently we purchased a new camera. Both Randy and I are trying to learn how to use it. I should say Randy's learning and I'm just floundering around with it.

Anyway, the hardest part for me is that we went from a 3.? megapixel camera (awesome for uploading to blog) to a 15.? megapixel camera (NOT awesome for uploading to blog).

So what I'm saying is I'm struggling with this new camera and all the new stuff to learn. But, finally tonight I made myself figure out how to downsize my pictures so they will be blog-worthy, so... I should start updating again on a fairly regular basis...

A midnight goodnight to you,

Laura!

She's our friend. She's our family. And she's so much FUN!

We enjoyed so much having Laura with us during our special meeting time and then we went skating with her last Friday morning. She's enjoying a little Montana time before she heads back to the great state of California!
Thank you so much Laura for all the special time together! These kids will never forget you!

Love,
and family

37 or 52: Snowflakes

Here's a quick 52 week post of the kids and I cutting out snowflakes on Monday morning. We've been enjoying this holiday vacation at home so far. Today, they decorated the house and while it would never measure up to Martha Stewart's standards, they did do a pretty good job and I left most of it alone.

Hope your all enjoying your special days of family and festivities!

Love from,

Family Photo Flashback-December 2005

This was an impromptu family picture we took 4 years ago when we were spending Christmas in Jackson Hole with Keith and Melinda.

We have been trying for several weeks now to get it together to take family portraits. Yesterday was finally supposed to be the day. We had the place, the clothes, the moment all picked out. Then we woke up to rain. So we still don't have our family picture but we're gonna keep trying. If we try and don't succeed, we'll end up getting our pictures with a prof. photographer on the 9th.

Yeah, we could just back up to a wall and take another impromptu picture but... there comes a time in every mother's life when SHE JUST WANTS AN UP-TO-DATE, GOOD, EVERYONE SMILING AND LOOKING AT THE CAMERA, NO FINGER SUCKING OR NOSE PICKING, STAGED PICTURE.

It this to much to ask for?...

Good, I didn't think so...

Just a mother moment by,

Happy

What is one simple thing that makes you happy?

Think Nut Hut!

I told you I'm Going Nuts! You know that wonderful smell you smell from the Nut Hut when you walk into a mall before the holidays?

Now your house can smell like that...

I just posted this recipe on my recipe blog for you!

www.countrykitchenrecipes.blogspot.com

These sweet spiced nuts make great gifts packaged in a festive tin. They are a sweet snack or can be added to the top of salad with poppy seed dressing! Yum!

Hope you enjoy!

Hawaiian Christmas

Here are a few pictures from Kyla's (3rd thru 5th grade) Christmas Concert that we went to last Tuesday evening. The theme of the concert was Christmas around the world and her class dressed up Hawaiian. We settled for a sundress with a light sweater(!) and a flower in her hair. ;)

Girls being girls!

Singing Mele Kalikimaka with her class!

Randy got some more fun videos. I would share them on here but I think they are huge so I will have to find out more before I try to upload them for the grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins!

May your days be merry and bright!

36 of 52: Plagued By The Paparazzi

As I mentioned in my previous 52 week post, I have no lack of photographs of myself lately. Here is just another one that the paparazzi my husband snapped of me when I wasn't aware of it. I think we were just heading out the door for one of the kids concerts. I'm surprised I look SO calm...

Now, if you'll excuse me, I think I will go into hiding in my own house! ;)

Goodnight,

Looking West

Looking west to the tip top of the mountain from our house. It's a beautiful cold snowy world out there.

Just keepin' the fire going,

When The Lights Went Out

Last Friday night we had a long power outage in our community. I was driving home from town that evening and it was strange to see total blackness on one side of the road for miles and miles. Then on the other side of the road that I was driving, it was all lit up with twinkling lights for miles and miles. I knew it was going to be a dark night because we live on the dark side of the road! ;)
When I got home, Randy had the lantern lit and the kids had their flashlights out. The plan for the evening was to mix and stuff the summer sausage. Here we are gathered around the lantern at the kitchen table.

Kyla also attempted to practice her piano lessons with the help of Colter holding the light. It's always an adventure to have an evening like this once and awhile...

But just "once and awhile"!

Our Little Penguin

Last Thursday evening was Colter's (Kindergarten thru 2nd grade) Christmas concert/play at school. Here are a few pictures from the evening. Randy took these pictures with our new camera.

Colter spent a long time looking for us in the audience. This is his teacher, Miss R., standing behind him...

Here are Colter and his classmates singing...
The play was about how the penguins saved Christmas. It was pretty cute to watch. Actually it was pretty hilarious to watch! There were 9 classes of little penguins in all and you can imagine all the entertaining things going on down on the performance floor!

We have some great video's too. Colter enjoyed watching them after the concert the other night and we all laughed and laughed. It will be interesting to bring out in about 15 years. ;)

35 of 52: Winter Evenings

We have been enjoying knitting and reading on these cold winter evenings.

I have LOTS and LOTS of picture of myself this week so I picked the one of the ones I liked the best. This one is second to the one of me waking up last Sunday morning but I refuse to post that one! The reason for ALL the pictures is that my husband brought home a new camera last week and he has been taking lots of pictures with it. He's trying to figure out all the settings. I plan to let him figure it out and then I'll ask him to show me everything. ;)

Hugs,

Frosty Morning

Here is the last post from our Thanksgiving pictures from over in Eastern Montana. On the morning we left, the world was a white wonderland! Beautiful and hard to capture on camera.

Stay warm,

Oat Flour. Agave Nectar. Apple Delight with Walnuts.

Some of you recently asked for this recipe. I have posted it on my recipe blog, Country Kitchen Recipes.

I also made this recipe again with 1/2 cup agave (instead of 1 cup sugar) and a 1/2 cup whole wheat flour along with a 1/2 cup regular flour and then fresh blueberries. Then I whipped cream to put on top and sweetened it with a little agave. It was SO good and light. One of my favorites! A must try! You know you want to!!!

Oh,... have you tried this recipe that was posted by Rebekah? You must! You really must!

Have a great week!

Thanksgiving 2009

Some of our Thanksgiving memories...

Thanksgiving Day comes, by statute, once a year; to the honest man
it comes as frequently as the heart of gratitude will allow.
