Garden Wall Highline Trail-GNP

Here are some pictures from our hike this last weekend.

Chances are if you've been to Glacier Park, you've probably driven on the Going to the Sun Highway. You can see the highway in the above picture cutting it's way through the mountains. This Highline Trail that we took starts out at Logan Pass at the top of Going to the Sun and makes it's way above the highway for 11.6 miles until it meets back up with the highway.
Just the beginning...
Looking across at Mt Oberlin. This was the mountain we climbed for our anniversary last year.

This mountain side is called The Garden Wall because of it's beautiful foliage and flowers all along it. The back of the mountain is also known for it's beauty...
Along the way...
Taking a little break near Haystack Butte...

and looking back to Logan Pass were we came from.
Looking down on Going to the Sun...
And looking WAY down the valley to Lake McDonald...

Just another trail shot...
Granite Park Chalet in view...
A welcoming Front Porch on Granite Park Chalet!

And a very rustic but very cute room inside the chalet...
The burned out area from the Chalet back down to the road. It's amazing how it is already growing back! We really watched for bears on this part of the trail...

Catching a shuttle bus back up to the pass, 11.6 miles and 7 hours later. Do I look a little tired?

And here are some more pictures...

Wow. Amazing. It's been much too long since I've been to Glacier. I'd have to work up a little courage to brave the bear country, but the sights are stunning.

That is amazing!!! And that's about all I have to say about that. Words can not describe. Wow. And to think... pictures don't even tell the half of it with nature. I can NOT imagine what it must have been like in person. Happy Anniversary!
