Sub-Zero Fishing Fun

On Thursday, December 29th, Randy, Kyla and Colter headed out to go ice fishing in the sub-zero temperatures. Sounds crazy huh? But as you can see they are fishing in their shirts. Apparently the heater inside the Ice House kept them all toasty warm. :)

And did they get any fish? No pictures to prove it but, they caught quite a few. They threw most of them back because of the tiny size but brought home 10 little ones, mostly perch. Randy cleaned them and I fried them for supper. I think all three had a fun day fishing!

The plan is to go again soon. And this time Maya really really wants to go! Next time I'll insist that they take some fish pictures! Hope that doesn't jinx them. :)

I was going to say...that's my kind of ice fishing! No coats, mittens, hats required.

Awesome Daddy they have. Sounds like they had a great time. I've always thought it would be fun to try out ice fishing.

burrr!! Glad everyone had a great time though! How fun for the older kids to get to spend some quality time with Daddy, and for Maya to get some alone time with you!

dear Fishy Story,

Well, I have heard tell of fishing this way. In fact just last week when we had Special company, one of the ladies was telling of her sis up in Northern MN who went icefishing in extreme cold temps...in a shelter that was already put up for them, outfitted with everything....we were laughing because she said she asked her if they even had to bait the hook...and if they really caught a fish or just enjoyed the nice warm hut on the ice!

love,
