Our Family Trip 2015 : Virginia City!

I mentioned that the night that Kyla and I stayed up on the mountain with the others for the Madison Marathon, Randy and the kids spent the night at an RV Park down in Virginia City.  We didn't want to bring the trailer up that long mountain road so this was a pretty nice place to stay.  Above is a picture of the RV site where they stayed in VC.

Randy and the kids went right into town that evening and had a look around.  Here is the kids goofing off in an old Ford on Main Street!

And then they stopped and had ice cream cones...

After the race next day, we all headed off the mountain and back to Virginia City to reclaim our trailer at the RV Park and to eat.  We walked around a bit more and then stopped in at the same place that they had ice cream the evening before and had supper...

Back in the days when Montana was a territory, Virginia City was the first capital of the Montana Territory.  It was a mining town and many of the buildings are frozen in time, just as they were so many years ago...

Virginia City is a true old west/mining/ghost town that is very alive today as a tourist town...

Back in that old Ford again...

A place to go back to someday!

After our supper and walk, we jumped back in the pickup and headed down the road.  Our stop for that evening was Big Timber, Montana where we stayed in the yard of some of our friends for the night.  We forgot to get a picture of our spot that night :(  But after showers and a good visit, we all headed to bed.  I slept much, much better than I had up in the tent, by myself, on that cold, high mountain the night before!  I think everyone else slept pretty good that night too.  :)

And the trip continues (just as soon as I have some more time to update...)
