June 2014

randy's picture of a killdeer.  look beneath her to see her three eggs!

June...
It was cold and rainy most of the month.
School ended, we went to conventions and we started our summer vacation.
It was a good month...

These three sweet "sisters" stayed with us one night after Ronan...

Randy and the kids enjoyed making a spud-gun together.  These kids have way to much fun...

And then their was Fathers Day...

Special to be with my own father on Fathers Day too...

Peonies have to be my favorite flower from my yard.  We had an abundance this year...

I got in a little sewing in June...

My strawberry patch started producing in June, but only a few little ones...

At the end of June, we headed east for a family reunion.  Here are the kids at the RV park we stopped at in Havre for the night.  After a long day of travel...
One day, on our trip, we got to spend some time with Grandma Ruth and visit her in her new home. Nice to imagine her there now...

Our trip spread over into July so I will share a few more pictures of it when I do my July post.

Here are a few more of those peonies we enjoyed in June...
Now I must get on with my day.  Break time is over!  Alison

May 2014

A few favorites from May.

I got canvases made from the pictures we took of the kids for the living room.  From Costco Photo.  Love them!!!  And Colter picked the yellow wild flowers for me.  Yes, Love them too!!!

Early in May, we headed up to Libby and stayed in our trailer there and watched the STOKR riders start off on their ride.  Go Dad!

In May, the grass started greening up and we started to spend more and more time outside...

And then there was Mothers Day.  A picture with these sweet ones that made me a mother...

And a picture with my own sweet mother...

More green, sun and fun...

Randy's completed fence in May. It's a tension wire, solar-powered electric fence...

The goats loved their new freedom.  And all the green grass too!..

Yay for family campfire nights...

And we started enjoying the lettuce and spinach out of our garden...

We spent some time in some sweet places during may...

And we spent some time with some sweet people too...

The kids had a couple track meets during May...
And last but not least, they had their spring Piano Recital.  It was a lovely month...

And that's just a little more of an (old) update from our house to yours.

Alison and family

a scrumptious picture and...

Good morning!  I wanted to share a picture of this cake I made for dessert last night.  It comes from the Pioneer Woman and its called Strawberry Sparkle Cake.  I actually bought the angel food cake at the store instead of making my own, which made it quick and simple.  And the kids love it because it has a surprise inside! It  is perfect for making for Sunday dinner, on a special family night, or when you have company.  You can find the recipe here.

Here is what else is going on here...
Randy's working around the property today getting ready for winter.
I'm redoing the family room and play room in the basement.  Mudding, sanding, priming, painting.  Its a mess right now. I'm also working on May's pictures and updating the blog.
The kids are cleaning around the house. And playing. And helping out.
Colter will be taking hunters safety this week so it will be really busy and late nights.
We will have two birthdays in our family this week-Randy and Maya.
We are looking forward to Grandpa and Grandma getting home!

Have a great weekend everyone.  Alison

April 2014

So, what happened with our family in April 2014?   If you just so happen to be a grandparent, aunt, uncle or cousin to our children, you may be wondering what DID happen in our lives back in April, since our blog got put on "hold" for a while. Whether or not you find it interesting, here's the scoop!... ;)

Easter morning seemed to be a good time to snap some pictures of the kids out behind the barn.  It was super cold out, but they did pretty good at trying to look happy and pleasant...

Acturally I LOVE these pictures of the kids!  As their Mother, I think each picture really captures their personality in a single shot...

April was a busy month with a lot of pictures!  Randy put in a new electric fence for the goats, with the help of Colter and Kyla...

He also started the garden.  These little plastic tents that he designed made it possible for him to do it...

It wasn't long before we were enjoying two kinds of lettuce and two kinds of spinach from the garden...
Kyla loves to cook and bake and I couldn't resist snapping a couple of pictures in April of the delicious suppers she made us.  This one was Chicken Pot Pie.  All.from.scratch!  Oh yum...
Kyla also started violin lessons in April.  Mostly she's tucked away in her room when she practices but sometimes before bed, she plays a little for us all...
For science, Colter made this model of the Solar System.  It was both a fun science and art project...

Colter and Randy also got to spend a few mornings out Gopher hunting...
Maya loves chicks and even though we didn't get any of our own chicks this spring, we made sure to stop by Murdocks on afternoon to see the baby chicks!..
Maya also had her friend Sabrina over one day to decorate Easter eggs together.  All the kids go in on the fun...
Melita loved the glitter sparkle egg decorations...
At some time during the month, Melita and I decided that we needed to plant some flowers in the flower pots so we bought  pretty pansies.  Thank you for being so tough and cold-hardy you little pansies...

Also in April, we enjoyed these two.  Ginger really was growing fast!..
And we got in a couple more skates at the Ice skating rink...
I had some fun making these paper pinwheels for the kids pictures and for spring decorating.  They are still hanging up in my house because I love them so much...
Ah spring!  Here are the girls, on Easter, at our friends house, enjoying the afternoon...

Well, that's all for now, until I get album pages made for all these months.  I'm trying to get through these months so I can get onto more current events. :)

Happy Friday everyone!  Enjoy your weekend.  Alison

March 2014

Welcome to March 2014.  It was proving to be a long and cold winter.  Love this pictures (above) of Melita and Ginger, peeking out the door, not sure they want to go out in that cold weather, even though the sunshine is beckoning to them.

I took Colter on a field trip up to Big Mountain, early in March on a bitterly cold day, to learn about Avalanche Safety and how to use Avalanche beacons and poles...

Maya and I made PW Cinnamon Rolls one day in March.  We kept some and gave some away. They were so so yummy...

Colter took part in both our school level Science Fair and in our County Science Fair.  He won a first place ribbon and a Grand Champion award at the Country Science Fair...

Here is a picture of Colter with his airplane launcher and the paper airplane that went the farthest in the launcher...

Eldon and Uncle Dale and Grandpa Larry all came to visit us in March.  Here is Eldon playing a guitar that he made himself!..
It was good to get caught up with Uncle Dale and to spend some time with Grandpa...

Maya built bridges with cardboard and tape at school and Colter did the same thing at home.  Here they are testing their bridges to see who's is stronger...

One of the weekends in March, we met Keith, Melinda, and kiddos at Fair Mont Hotsprings.  Here is little Kendra taking her morning nap.  Pure sweetness...

Kyla took part in our School Science Fair, our Country Science Fair and the State Science Fair down in Missoula.  She received a First place and a Silver place award...

Here is a picture of her completed board.  She was able to turn and iPhone into a microscope...

Here she is, in the orange sweater in the center of the picture, waiting for her judges at the State Fair...

While Kyla was busy with the State Science Fair stuff, we enjoyed taking a look around UofM campus, where Grandpa Steve went to forestry school years ago...
The end of March saw warmer temperatures.  Here it was warm enough to head out on an evening walk with my girls...

And that pretty much sums up March.

All for now, Alison
