Ask me 20 years ago if I would someday have a large garden and I would have said "No Way!"
That's what growing up with a father and grandfather who kept large gardens does to a teenager.
But now I find myself enjoying my garden very much. Not so much the work of it but more than anything the enjoyment of eating out of it,
and the colors and smells, the fruit and the flowers,
and the enjoyment my kids get out of it...until THEY are teenagers,
and just being able to work together as a family...

Randy took these pictures of me* last Friday while I was weeding my strawberry patch. I couldn't help but think I should have been wearing a wide brimmed straw hat for the occasion. :0)
Now bring on the berries!

GREAT photos Alison. We have a garden too. My husband tends to it and I just get to enjoy all the yummyness from it. There's nothing like fresh veggies from the garden. And of course, there's the occassional bug that makes it's way in the pickin's. Hopefully, I won't ever mistakenly eat something I shouldn't. HAHA
Take care,
~Miti
My parents have a small garden...but no strawberries. Yum. I have always wanted to take my kids strawberry picking...can we come over? Great shots.
I just have to tell you that you take such amazing pictures. At first I couldn't help but wonder what kind of camera you had, but I am thinking it's just the person using the camera. Beautiful pictures throughout your whole blog!
As for gardens...wish we had one....I would not even know where to start. My parents had a huge one when we were growing up, but the amazing thing is...we never were asked to work in it with them. Huh...I am going to have to ask why?
Fun pictures again this week!
Great, great pictures! Very clever who ever was taking the shots! You look like you are enjoying the garden so much! I would like to try a few things again someday. The last garden we had was when we lived in Plentywood... 16 years ago. You've inspired me =)
Aw, the joys of gardening! I share all your gardening sentiments of today and days gone by. Our garden is all planted now and I'm crossing my fingers it's not too early. I have to laugh though, because our garden is less than 1/10th the size of yours! We have plans to tear out our dech and put in a smaller patio and then the garden will have more room.....someday ;o)
Great shots, lovely persepective. I wish I was so motivated. I'm pretended my garden doesn't exist at the moment.
My husband was the one who took these pictures of me. I told him I needed a "52 weeker"! ;)
He was an avid picture taker long before I ever got into taking pictures so he gets all the credit for these pictures. I think he focused on me and then moved the camera down into the long grass so it framed me. It's kind of a cool idea.
Good luck to all you gardeners. And THANKS for the comments. It's fun to see who stopped by today.
Love, Alison
What an awesome shot, love the view through the grass. Kudos to your hubby. I too was raised by gardeners and never imagined how much I would one day enjoy having my own gardens! I'm sure our parents knew that though and now they are proud to see us joining in.
These are neat, Alison. I feel like a little bunny in the grass waiting until you leave so I can nibble on the veggies. :) I'm loving gardening, too... this early part anyway.
I agree with all the comments that these are fabulous shots!!
