Once Upon A Time...

He was a South Dakota farm boy.
She grew up in the mountains of Montana.

He walked to a one room school house and remembers bathing in a big basin by the warm kitchen stove.
She loved visiting her grandparents just down the street and remembers eating oatmeal for breakfast every morning.

He enjoyed sports and being outdoors.
She enjoyed singing and sewing.

He bought a new 'candy apple red' Volkswagen Beetle in 1968.
She bought a new Chevy Impala when she saved enough money from working out on her own.
Those were the only new vehicles they ever bought.

He came to Montana for college and became a Forester.
She moved to Washington and worked at a hospital.

And one day, between here and there in a little place called Post Falls, Idaho, they met for the first time...

He fell in love.
She fell in love.

Some time later...

He asked her to marry him.
She said yes.

Dad and Mom - Congratulations on 34 years!

Love you both,

Sniffle, sniffle, wipe, wipe...you sure know how to pull at those heart strings, Al. Oh the things that can happen when two people fall in love - I'm so thankful they're still in love!

I have to comment again; They got married not so long before us--we were 1-77, Same era, and your mom's dress/hair/shoes are SO much like mine :)

okay, my parents informed me tonight that their 'new' vehicles were not 'brand new'. They were both a year or two old but hey, that's still pretty 'new' I think, so... I think I'll just leave that detail alone
