A Letter From Lita

A toddling little girl is a center of common feeling
which makes the most dissimilar people understand each other.
~George Eliot

Hi!

So, I'm 15 months old now you know.  Most of you have watched me grow up and pretty much know everything about me 'cause my Mommy has told you every detail of my life I'm sure.  Pretty soon you'll be hearing about the whole potty training gig.  Oh brother...

Speaking of "brother".  Do you want to know about my brother and my sisters?  It's only fair that I get to say a few things about them too, right?  Anyway, I have them all wrapped around my little finger and I'm pretty much the center of their world.  They are so fun and life is so boring when they are at school but Mommy always seems more calm when they are at school but still... I wish they were home all the time to play with me.  I'll have to try and arrange that soon.  Otherwise I try to keep Mommy hopping myself by drawing on the wall with the markers my brother and sisters leave out, playing in the toilets when the bathroom doors get left open, and reaching for the knives when Mommy opens the dishwasher to unload it.  I do take a little break for a nap in the afternoon, right after Mommy and I look at a book together.  I JUST don't care about naps though!  Anyway, back to my sisters and brother...

My biggest sister babysits me and she brings me outside a lot which I really like.  Sometimes, when I really want to go outside, I yell her name down the stairs "DY-YA, DY-YA", just like Mommy does.

My big brother cuddles me and laughs at me when I scrunch up my nose at him. He lets me play with his big kid toys all the time.  He likes sticks and rocks and sand and SO DO I!  I just call him "Doe-Toe".

My other sister makes me scream. ALOT. But I still like her a lot.  We play babies together and she giggles and giggles.  I like to hear her giggle and it makes me happy inside.  She is my "My-Yah"!

When Mommy says "It's time to go get the kids at school!"   I run over and try to pull my coat off the coat rack and then fuss until my Mommy helps me and then I wait by the door for her.  It is what I wait for every day!

But the absolute BEST part of my day is when my Daddy cuddles me before bed and gives me my "baw-bie" full of warm milk.  After my Mommy puts on my pajama's I start my "Daddy, Daddy, Daddy" chant and then EVERYONE know's it's time for Daddy and my "baw-bie".  After I'm done, Mommy carries me to my bed and cuddles me and  then I can't go to bed fast enough. I bury myself in my soft blankies and fall fast asleep.

I have heard my Mommy and Daddy talk to each other about me. They say that they don't want to spoil me too much and it would be easy to do... so they are trying to be careful about it and stuff, but... I don't see anything wrong with being spoiled*. Do you?

oh-tay bye-bye,
Lita Girl

*SPOILED (adj.) overindulged: willful or selfish because of having been overindulged. Overindulged is to much. Is it possible to spoil me by giving me to much attention, to much love, to much affection, to much care and concern and cuddles? I think not. ♥

Sleepy Days

It's because of those nasty molars trying to poke about in her sweet little mounth and because of another cruel ear infection. Bahhh!

Here's hoping for a good sleep tonight and a better day tomorrow!

Goodnight,

Alison

A One-derful Birthday!

We couldn't get her to smile for the camera. This was all very serious business!

Here is a slide show of Melita's party...

And a couple of cake-eating videos. That brought a smile...

The presents were also a lot of fun! Thanks everyone!
Can't believe our smiling baby is one now!

Here's to another wonderful year with all the love our hearts can hold,
Alison

Ahhhhhhh.....

Last week I put pigtails in Lita's hair for the first time. I'll try not to go on and on about how cute she looked in pigtails...
But they were pretty cute and we just kept looking at her and exclaiming how cute she was and how we couldn't stop looking at her. But I'll try not to go on and on about it...
But they were so cute that we put her hair in pigtails again on Sunday and enjoyed another day of looking at her and saying how cute she looked.

And I realized they can be kind of distracting when I'm trying to tell her "no". I'm sure the pigtails already have me wrapped around their little finger.

I think we should refrain from doing pigtails every day. They are so very cute.
So, anyway, I'll try not to go on and on about the cute pigtails...
Wearing pigtails is like having a party on your head!

Yes, they were cute and I'm thinking we'll have to tone down the excitement over the pigtails before she gets too much older and knows were talking about her and her cute pigtails.

But we are enjoying them for now.

Okay, I'll really stop going on and on about it now.

Happy Wonderful Wednesday,
Alison

Table Food for Baby

This little food grinder has been with me for all 4 of my kids. Before I had Lita, I looked into getting and electric Magic Bullet grinder or something similar. Then I realized I would have to find a place for it on the counter or in a cupboard. I would also have more little pieces to wash and find a place for all of them. It was also more money than I wanted to spend when I already had a blender. I quickly decided to use my little Happy Baby Food Grinder again. It's easy to use, easy to wash (in the dishwasher), easy to store and easy to bring with me when we go to eat out. The best part is that she can eat whatever we're eating and I know that she's getting good nutritious food. Yes, I do break open a jar of food every now and then when were having hamburgers or something like that. I'm pretty sure she already knows the difference. ;)

The little munchkin turns ONE in a few days and she's WALKING! More to come... someday...

Happy Weekend everyone,
Alison

For Those Who Need an Update...

Our camera has plenty of pictures documenting this first year of Lita-Girl's life. Lots of firsts, lots of happy moments to remember. Here's a few from this last month...

how many babies can YOU hold at one time?

and if you have to drop one, which one should you drop?
maybe the one who's got it's fist up your nose...

this works great when Mom asks you to take care of the baby
so she can PLEASE GET SUPPER MADE...

this little girl loves to play with her toys!
as long as she's not hungry or tired...

she's happy in her highchair for a while but when you put her down it's go, go, go...

last Saturday was the very first day that Melita went out to play with the kids in the snow...
maybe mostly because we haven't had much snow this winter!

she loved it (contrary to what the picture says)!
it was a good twenty minutes before Kyla brought her back in the house...

Here are some more things I want to remember...

-She has had more ear pain this last week but I have been making my own olive oil/pressed garlic ear drops and putting them in her ears. They work great!!! She doesn't smell so well but hey... it's better than the sleepless nights and doctor visits. ;)

-The other day I was putting foam curlers in Maya's hair. I was sitting on the couch with Maya in front of me and Melita was in her little walker. I was trying to keep the comb and curlers out of her reach but forgot once and set the comb down right on the edge of the couch. She grabbed it and made a mad dash down the hall in her walker. We all just couldn't help laughing and laughing. :D

-She loves her little walker and knows how to stay right in my way with it and she thinks its funny to run into my feet. Hilarious in fact, because of my anticipated "OUCH". It started out as a little game between the two of us but now it's not so funny! This is always interesting when I'm trying to make breakfast and lunches for the kids so I can get them out the door to school. Oh yes, she has a way of starting out my day just right. ;)

-She is now doing the sign language for "food or hungry" and she says "num-num". She tries to say the kids names now but doesn't do the consonants very well yet. Today she said "Amma" for Grandma. She knows the works "no-no", "please", and "thank-you" very well. In fact when I walk toward her saying "NO NO" she holds out what ever she's holding that she shouldn't be and says, "tant-oo, tant-oo". Too cute! Whenever it gets really quiet in the house, I know she's into something. I just have resorted to keeping most doors closed!

-She's standing up and walking along the furniture. She got her first bruised cheek the other day when she tumbled against one of the kitchen chairs. :(

-She's still a squealer and a giggler.

I know there is probably more that I'm forgetting. I really need to write these things down. Wait... I am writing them down (pat pat on the back).

Have a great week everyone!
Alison

Playing

She kind of enjoys playing babies with her sisters already. :) She's going to be 11 months old in a couple of days so, I'll post more about what she's up to later.

Crawlers

The boys have been having a grand old time setting up obstacle courses for their "rock crawlers" to maneuver all over the living room. The course in this video was quite tame compared to what they usually have. Couches, tables, pillows, boards, books, toys... they all make for hours of climbing fun. If only the batteries would last for hours!

And there is another little crawler in this video. See if you can spot her! She was set in motion about a week before Thanksgiving and hasn't stopped since. Although her five teeth coming in, in the last month did slow her down a couple times...uggghhh.

More on this crawling and teething business to come...

Happy Week! WE ARE COUNTING DOWN THE DAYS!

Kewpie Doll

{ the eyelashes, the cheeks, the button noses }

{ pointing and poking }

{ such kew(C)pie poses }

{ nine months old is passing by }

{ soft and sweet }

{ and happy girl, my! }

{ kew(T)pie }

{ enough! pouting lip }

{ smile and bye-bye }

Now that our little Doll is almost 10 months old, I suppose I should get these 9 month old pictures posted. Thanks to my super camera-smart husband for helping me with these pictures one Saturday afternoon when he had so many other important things to do... and I had way too much fun editing them when I should have been in bed one late Sunday night! But alas, she'll never be nine months again.

Love you, my little kew(T)pie,
Ma-Ma

Evening Nap

This little girl doesn't do this very often anymore. Just falling asleep in someones arms isn't as easy with so much going on around you that is so interesting. Life is so exciting, especially with so many cousins running around. And taking a nap tucked away in a quiet, dark room? No way!

But on Thursday evening after a yummy turkey dinner and a full sleepless afternoon of fun she crashed in Daddy's arms...
She was out for quite a while, with everything going on around her...
So sweet.

Later that night Daddy went to bed and crashed.

And little "sweety" was WIDE AWAKE. Again. ;)

Have a great day,
Alison

Seven Days of Thankfulness: Day Six

{warm socks knit by Auntie Marcia}

{hooded sweater knit by our friend Janette}

{sweet baby booties knit by Grandma Judy}

Thank you!!!

What are you thankful for today?

Alison

Seven Days of Thankfulness: Day Five

I know I've said this before but, we have several Mommy's living in this house. And a couple of Daddy's too! I really DO appreciate all the HELP. It's just another thing I'm Thankful for!

Although Lita may not always be so thankful, she generally is pretty tolerant...
Seeing these pictures reminded me of this post from back in February of 2010. How much more fun to have a real, live baby to take care of and dress. And a bit more lively, and frustrating at times too!

What are you thankful for today?

Memory Lane Monday: Daddy and Daughter

Baby Randy and Big Brother-probably early 1972!

Baby Lita and Big Brother-October 2011

So many people have said that Lita takes after her Daddy in looks-especially when he was a baby. Now I see it... high hair line, round full face, prominent forehead and serious expression. I was excited to find the top pictures recently in my photo archives. How fun to compare the two baby faces! I think Lita might be a little older in her picture but I definitely see a family resemblance. Do you too?

See you around the next corner on memory lane,
Alison

Seven Days of Thankfulness: Day Two

I'm thankful for a husband who takes time to play the harmonica. Sometimes on Sunday mornings he plays the hymns and sometimes in the evenings he plays to calm our fussy baby. Works every time!

What are YOU thankful for today?

Memory Lane Monday: All Our 9 Month Olds!

Lita Girl is 9 months old today! It seems to me like 9 months is kind of a magical age. For all of our kids it was the age when things really started happening. The age when they really become a little person with a little personality. When they really started responding to us and interacting with a new level of intelligence.

It's when they started to be able to communicate ("maaamaaa"..... is the "mommy is the only one who can make me feel better" cry ,"da da da da" is "daddy's in the room and I want to play!", and "NUM! NUM!" is "Come on! It's time to eat!", etc.)

It's when we started telling them "no" and "good girl/boy" and when they started to understand what that meant.

It's when they all started to move a little faster and little farther than this Mommy was ready for.

And the rest is history...

Kyla Jean (9 Months) in May 2001,

Colter Steven (9 months) in April 2003,

Maya Judy (9 months) in July 2005,

and Melita Lauren (9 months) today!

Happy 9 months to my little "on the move" Lita Girl!

See you around the next corner on memory lane,
Alison

This Then, Is Joy...

Two things she loves-

First is the piano. Whenever we're within a few feet of it, she reaches out her hands and strains toward it. She's been introduced to it many times in her short little life and has found that it's great fun to pound on the keys! Pure joy, in fact!

Second is the hall mirror. Over and over we walk down the hall through the day and she is delighted everytime to see herself and me or whoever is holding her walking back towards her in the mirror. It's so much fun to wave and squeal in pure unrestrained joy!

I just have way too much cuteness going on here and I had to share some with you!

Have a happy day!

Love,
Alison

My First & Last

precious moment to begin my day

Randy was gone to California a couple weeks ago for work. The girls wanted to take turns sleeping with me while he was away so I said K could the first night and M the last night. I had to grab the camera that first morning after Baby M ended up in bed with us too. I love these pictures of them sound asleep in the morning. I only had the dim light on from the bathroom and I didn't want to use the flash and wake them so these are the pictures I got of my very first baby and my very last baby, lost in dreamland together. ahhhh....

It's definitely time for a Melita update. She'll be 9 months old on the 14th! Pictures and video coming soon.

And now, off to dreamland I go,
Alison

Lita Girl!

Here is another posts of pictures for you Grandma and auntie's out there (both great and non-great)! Thank you 'great' aunt MaryAnn for the adorable crocheted hat and sweater!

There's those two teeth we were talking about before...

It is so cute when she is tired and rubs her eyes. She usually yawns or sighs when she is doing it...

I love this picture of the girls on the big trampoline and Lita looking up at them from her little jumpy play-station. I think it's safe to say she's already "looking up to" and learning from her big sisters and brother...
Case in point... look at that concentration and determination in this picture. Oh, and look at those pointed toes... I love, love, love this picture..!

So this was Labor Day weekend and Lita's very first time in Glacier National Park. Grandma and Grandpa camped and hiked for the weekend and we just made it up for a little bit one evening. Here is Grandma holding Lita...
Evening around the campfire...

Here is a back picture of the adorable sweater and hat you make MaryAnn. So, so, so cute on her!

She is almost 7 months old now. The most notable "new" thing she's doing now is saying "Hi". I think I've covered everything else already...

Love you Little Lita Girl,
Alison (can you say "ma-ma"?)
